Denmark has some of the top higher institutions in the world and it is the dream of international students to pursue undergraduate and post graduate studies in this country. Higher Education in Denmark is free for EU/EEA students while non-EU/EEA students have to pay tuition fee of around 6,000 to 16,000 Euros.  In order to attract excellent non-EU/EEA students, the Danish Government and Institutions make available a number of scholarships for international students for study in Denmark. You can apply for any of these scholarships so as to achieve your dream of studying in some of the best higher institutions of learning in Denmark. Here is a list of available scholarships you can go for and get funding to study in Denmark.

The Danish Government Scholarships under the Cultural Agreements

The Danish Government Scholarships under the Cultural Agreements target highly qualified exchange students and young researchers who are interested in undertaking studies of the Danish language and culture or other fields of study related to Denmark, such as design, architecture, environmental studies, and other related fields. These scholarships are only given to students enrolled in full-degree studies (Master’s or PhD) at higher education institutions in the following countries: Russia, China, Japan, Israel and Egypt.

Erasmus Mundus Scholarship Program in Denmark

This programme provides opportunity for both EU/EEA and non-EU/EAA students to apply for a scholarship to enroll for specific Master’s degree programmes that are offered jointly by a Danish institution and another European university or college.

Danish Government Scholarships for Highly Qualified Non-#U/EEA Students

Higher education institutions in Denmark receive a limited number of government scholarships each year to provide funding for highly qualified full-degree students from non-EU/EEA countries and Switzerland. The Danish institutions of higher education administer these scholarships and decide which students will receive a scholarship. The government scholarship is made up of two parts and can be given as full or partial tuition fee waivers and/or grants towards covering your living costs but this varies depending on the Danish Institution. Examples of Danish Government Scholarships offered by Danish Institutions are as follows:

Danish State Tuition Fee Waivers and Scholarships at Roskilde University

This opportunity offers a limited number of Danish state tuition fee waivers and scholarships to exceptionally talented students at graduate level, who come from countries outside of the EU/EEA and need a residence permit to study at Roskilde University.  The scholarship is offered to beneficiaries in the form of a tuition fee waiver and approximately DKK 7,800 per month to cover living expenses in Denmark.

IT University of Copenhagen State Scholarships

The IT University of Copenhagen makes available state scholarships to three or four highly talented MSc applicants (full-degree students) from outside EU and EEA every year.  The scholarships include free tuition and partly covering of living expenses.

Danish Government Scholarships at University College of Denmark

University College of Northern Denmark offers a few scholarship places every year to non-EU citizens who are enrolled on a study programme at UCN. UCN’s scholarship programme covers from 30-50 % of the tuition fees which means that the rest must be paid by the student. Beneficiaries of this scholarship from UCN may under certain circumstances also receive an additional small sum each month to cover parts of their living expenses.

Danish State Strategic Scholarships for Non-EU/EEA Students at Aarhus University

Aarhus University offers a limited number of scholarships financed by the Danish state for highly qualified non-EU/EEA/Swiss applicants admitted to two-year Master’s degree programmes. The scholarships comprise of a full tuition waiver and generally, but not always, including a monthly scholarship for a maximum of 23 months for the duration of the degree programme.
