The University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) is offering the prestigious USTC Fellowship for Master’s Programs, aimed at outstanding international students who wish to pursue graduate studies in China. The fellowship provides full or partial financial support, covering tuition fees and, in some cases, living expenses, accommodation, and medical insurance.
This opportunity is open to non-Chinese citizens worldwide and is available for both English-taught and Chinese-taught master’s degree programs.

The USTC Fellowship for Master’s Programs has two funding levels:
Level A (Fully Funded)
Funded by:
- Chinese Government Scholarship (CGS – Ministry of Education)
- CAS-ANSO Scholarship
- USTC
Includes:
- Full tuition fee waiver
- Monthly stipend of 3,000 RMB
- Comprehensive medical insurance
- Accommodation subsidy
Level B (Partially Funded)
Funded by USTC
Includes:
- Full tuition fee waiver
- Opportunity to apply for Teaching Assistant (TA) or Research Assistant (RA) subsidies after enrollment
Note: Each applicant can receive only one scholarship, either Level A or Level B.
Eligible Nationalities
- All nationalities (Non-Chinese citizens only)
- Applicants must hold a valid passport
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the USTC Fellowship for Master’s Programs, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Must be a non-Chinese citizen in good physical and mental health.
- Must hold a Bachelor’s degree (equivalent to a Chinese bachelor’s degree).
- Students graduating in 2027 must submit a Pre-graduation Certificate and obtain the degree by July.
- Must be under 35 years old by September 1, 2027.
- Language requirements:
- Chinese-taught programs: HSK Level 4 or above
- English-taught programs: Valid IELTS / TOEFL or equivalent proof
- Exemptions apply for native speakers or prior education in the instruction language
- Must meet USTC international student admission requirements.
- Must not hold any other assignments during the scholarship period.

Follow these steps to apply for the USTC Fellowship:
Step 1: Online Registration
- Create an account in the USTC Online Application System
- Select the fellowship level(s) you wish to apply for (Level A, Level B, or both)
Step 2: Complete Application
- Fill in all required information
- Upload all supporting documents
Step 3: Review & Interview
- No need to contact a supervisor during application
- Departments will review applications
- Online interviews may be conducted
- Final scholarship level is decided by USTC
