The University College London (UCL) offers a range of Undergraduate Funding and Access Awards (UGFA) to support UK students from diverse backgrounds who have received an offer to study at UCL. Funded through generous donations from UCL alumni, friends, and UCL’s own initiatives, these awards are designed to remove financial barriers and help students take up their place at one of the UK’s leading universities.

Eligibility Criteria

All applications are reviewed by a UCL staff panel, which assesses eligibility and suitability for each funding scheme. Recommendations are made based on the criteria of the individual awards.

Due to the competitive nature of funding, meeting eligibility criteria does not guarantee an award—early, complete, and well-prepared applications are strongly advised.

Application Procedure

Applications are submitted through UCL Portico, the university’s student portal:

  1. Log in to Portico using your usual details
  2. Select “View” on the active programme application you wish to fund
  3. Click “Funding” from the top menu
  4. Choose “Check and apply” under Funds Available to see eligible schemes
  5. Select the scholarship or bursary and complete the application form

Important: If you have applied to more than one UCL undergraduate programme, you must submit a separate funding application for each programme.
