About the Scholarship

Iowa State University offers a limited number of merit scholarships to first-year and transfer international students. This scholarship programme is part of the university’s commitment to enrolling a diverse and talented student population. These scholarships are awarded based on academic excellence and a holistic review of each applicant’s accomplishments. The scholarship selection process is highly competitive and based on a holistic review of SAT or ACT scores and high school grades.

Scholarship Award

There are two kinds of awards available. These are:

  • Award of Achievement: Up to $40,000 total ($5,000–$10,000 per year)
  • Award of Distinction: Up to $16,000 total ($2,000–$4,000 per year)

NOTE:

  • First-year recipients are eligible for funding for up to eight semesters or until degree completion, whichever occurs first.
  • Recipients of these scholarships must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 while enrolled at Iowa State, be continuously enrolled in at least 12 semester credits per term (excluding summer sessions), remain classified as international students subject to international tuition rates, and use the scholarship exclusively toward undergraduate tuition and fees.

Eligibility

To qualify for this scholarship, a candidate must:

  • be an incoming international freshman applicant who has already been offered admission to an undergraduate program at Iowa State University;
  • be classified as a non-resident tuition fee applicant;
  • meet the course requirements for an undergraduate program at ISU;
  • be an international student;
  • have completed the OneApp scholarship application.

(i) Complete the General OneApp application

(ii) Complete the International Student Admissions Scholarship application
