About Gani Fawehinmi Undergraduate Scholarship

The Gani Fawehinmi Undergraduate Scholarship is a scholarship that was put together for Nigerian undergraduate students. It is managed by the Gani Fawehinmi Scholarship Foundation with a view to giving a helping hand to the less privileged who are willing to undergo undergraduate studies in any higher institution in Nigeria. The foundation sponsors 20 students for courses in diverse disciplines in an academic year.

It was in 2018 that the scholarship board announced its annual contributions of two million naira to Nigerian students. Based on this the scholarship board has consistently approved 20 candidates studying in various universities to be placed on the merit list.

Every year beneficiaries of the scholarship receive N100,000 as a one-time scholarship benefit which is non-renewable. To win this scholarship you must meet certain standards which are stipulated by the scholarship awarding board.

Eligibility Criteria

There are requirements you have to meet to become eligible for the Gani Fawehinmi Undergraduate Scholarship. They are as follows;

• You have to be a full-time student in any higher institution in Nigeria as the time you applied for the scholarship.
• You have to provide a good academic result.
• You have to be from a low economic background or show proof that you are an indigent Nigerian from less privileged home.
• Candidates interested in every course offered in Universities, polytechnics, colleges of education, and monotechnic are qualified for the scholarship.

Application Procedure

If you want to apply for Gani Fawehinmi Undergraduate Scholarship each year, you must submit an application letter of not more than 2 pages to the scholarship board office. The scholarship board office is located in Abuja, Lagos, and Imo State respectively.

The letter has to first address the scholarship board in the following order;

• full names,
• course of study, and your 
• current year of study.

Also, in the letter you are submitting you have to provide your state of origin and local government of origin. This is a highly competitive opportunity so you need to go the extra mile of ensuring that you write the letter in good English grammar so that your scholarship letter will stand out from the rest.

Furthermore, the body of your letter must as well state:

• Why the scholarship board should consider you instead of others.
• Why your present condition makes you the most preferred applicant for the award.

When you finish writing your scholarship letter, it should be attached to other documents required from you and packaged in an A4 size envelope.

There are additional documents you have to attach their photocopies to to your scholarship application letter and they are;

• Your current identity Card
• Letter from your head of Department, which has to include accurate information on your CGPA for the last academic session.
• A letter from the Registrar of your school indicating that you are a full-time registered student of that institution.
• Your course registration form for the current semester; and
• Two (2) current passport photographs.
