Scholarship Programme for Asylum seekers and Refugees

If you are an asylum seeker or refugee and you want to enroll in any academic programme at graduate or undergraduate level, you have the opportunity to get access to funding for such programme. Murdoch University is offering opportunity for financial assistance for students from refugee and asylum seeker backgrounds to undertake an undergraduate or postgraduate degree at the university. This is a great opportunity for any asylum seeker or refugee to achieve their dream of acquiring university education in a top quality school.

Eligibility

To be qualified to win this scholarship you have to meet the following criteria:

  • You should be residing in Australia • You should be a person seeking asylum • You should be on a Temporary Protection Visa or Safe Haven Enterprise Visa or you should be in the process of applying for one of these or any other protection visa. • You should be eligible for entry into an undergraduate or postgraduate degree at the time of application • You should be intending to enrol and commence studies in Semester 1, 2023 at Murdoch University (or you apply for the next one since it is an annual scholarship).

Benefits

Beneficiaries of this scholarship will receive 100% of tuition fees will be covered. They will also get annual Living Stipend – Payment will be made in the following instalments: $5,000 per annum ($2,500 per semester) across the length of the successful recipient’s degree. Student Amenities fee will be waived. Those who are successful will also have use of a Murdoch Laptop

Application

You have to complete and submit your application form. Please provide a copy of your visa or provide evidence you have applied for a protection visa/SHEV/TPV. You also have to provide a personal statement (of no more than 1 A4 page) that includes: What you have done as your previous work and study experience – this can be formal (school or TAFE) or informal (voluntary work, learning with volunteer organisations)? You also have to state what your motivations are, regarding studying your particular course and describe how this relates to your future career? You also briefly state the barriers (financial or otherwise) that this scholarship will assist you in overcoming. You have to provide statement of recommendation from a school (secondary or tertiary) or community leader (not a family member). You should provide referee Statements which could support your application.
