CHIETA Bursary in South Africa

The Chemical Industries Education and Training Authority (CHIETA) is a Sector Education and Training Authority (SETA) dedicated to enhancing the chemical sector’s education and training programs, with a particular focus on nine subsectors: Petroleum, Base Chemicals, Pharmaceuticals, Fast Moving Consumer Goods, Specialty Chemicals, Surface Coatings, Glass, Explosives, and Fertilizers. Through its initiatives, the CHIETA aims to develop and promote the skills and competencies required to drive the growth and sustainability of the chemical industry in South Africa.
The CHIETA focuses on the chemical sector including the following nine subsectors:
- Base Chemicals
- Fast Moving Consumer Goods
- Speciality chemicals
- Surface Coatings
The CHIETA bursary scheme is aimed at young South Africans interested in pursuing careers in the chemical industry. This exciting sector offers numerous opportunities for growth and development, and the bursary supports key learning fields required in the industry. Whether you plan to study at a public Further Education and Training (FET) or Higher Education and Training (HET) institution, CHIETA provides financial assistance for tuition and books, subject to availability of funds within the range of R30,000 to R45,000 per learner per year.
Additionally, bursars may be eligible for top-up bursary allowances from other sources or the CHIETA if funding is available.
To be eligible for this bursary a candidate Must fulfil all of the following criteria:
South African citizen
Between 16 and 35 years old
Studying full time within one of the aforementioned fields of study
Studying at a recognised and accredited public tertiary institution in South Africa
