Royal Canadian Legion Foundation BC/Yukon Command contributes to the society by providing awards and grants to students, among other philanthropic activities. It is a non-profit organization consisting of 145 Branches, 60 Ladies’ Auxiliaries and over 47,000 members. The organization is one of the foremost and most respected community service organizations in Canada, serving veterans, ex-service personnel, seniors, youth and many aspects of community life. The Legion is a democratic, non-partisan, member based organization.

About the Award

The foundation offers $5,000 awarded annually to a 3rd year Bachelor of Science Nursing student who demonstrates financial need and has an interest in geriatric nursing. Students applying for this award are required to attach a brief essay to their application about their interest in geriatric nursing.
